A Little Break

23 Feb

My kids have been working hard at school for quite awhile, and I could tell that it was getting time for a break when both of them started whining in the morning about going to school. And now they’re on break for a week and a half. A lot of the parents I’ve talked to laugh and say things like, “Oh GGGRREEEAAATTT…what are you going to do witht he kids home all day? Can’t wait for them to go back, huh?”

Actually, I kind of love having them home.

I think that’s one of the problems with the fact that I work from home. I feel guilty. Scott has to go out to work every morning for 7 a.m., and the kids have to be at school by 8. I love our house, and I feel guilty that I’m the only one that gets to be home every day in it.

But the kids are on vacation now, and they’re getting the chance to enjoy their home too. And I tend to be really lax when they’re on vacation, letting them play video games and eat sugary snacks.

Isn’t that what vacation is all about?

School break here starts next week and Hayley will be off for a week. While it does mean listening to more sibling bickering (oh my head), I’m looking forward to it because it means we can just relax.

I’m just hoping that we’ll get a bit more snow so we can maybe do some sledding. We just don’t have enough right now.
